Letter of Invitation

Invitation letters can be downloaded from your registration dashboard. This letter assists with your Visa application. You will only be able to download an invitation letter once you have paid for your registration in full and have entered in your passport details. How to download the invitation letter:

  • Log into your registration dashboard as a 'returning delegate' by entering your email and password
  • Scroll the menu to the 'Document' section and select the button 'Enter Details'
  • Every field must be filled in for a Visa letter to be generated. Once all details have been filled in, click 'GO'. You will be taken back to the main screen and now a button 'Download letter' will appear and by clicking this it will generate a PDF visa letter

Visa Application

ALL international delegates/travellers to Australia, apart from New Zealand citizens, must obtain a Visa or Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) before boarding their flight to Australia. Travellers cannot apply for a Visa on arrival. Please ensure you organise documentation well in advance of travel.

For many countries, the visa is paperless and added automatically to your air ticket. Check with your travel agent if uncertain.

When lodging your visa application, you will need to allow time for the application to be processed, taking into account the date you are intending to travel to Australia. Customs

Delegates carrying commercial goods or samples may need to obtain permits for their goods depending on the nature of the goods, regardless of value. Quarantine and wildlife regulations and other restrictions may also apply to certain goods. All travellers must declare amounts of $10,000 or more in foreign or Australian currency (notes and coins) you take into or out of Australia. For further information visit www.customs.gov.au.

The Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS)

International travellers can claim a refund of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) paid on goods bought in Australia. The refund only applies to goods taken as hand luggage upon departure. The refund will be paid on goods costing $300 or more, bought from the same store, no earlier than 30 days prior to departure. For further information visit www.customs.gov.au.

Currency and Exchange

The official currency of Australia is the Australian Dollar (AUD) Australian currency is comprised of notes and coins and are of decimal currency. In view of the currency, you may occasionally see prices such as $2.98, this figure is rounded up to the nearest five cents, in this case $3.00. Money exchanges can be found all around the city and most major tourist destinations. Banks also offering money exchanging services and cashing of travellers cheques. Throughout the city you will find Currency Exchange desks, most hotels also have exchange rates at the Reception Desk, however, some hotels have a limit to what you can exchange. All the major banks also offer money exchange services and cashing of travellers cheques. Your passport will be needed for identification purposes when cashing travellers cheques.
